Don't hesitate to ask all the questions you need to feel comfortable hiring a professional. You can also ask 3-4 professionals to make sure you have the right quote in mind. You must make sure they have a warranty or some kind of paperwork stipulating the quality of their jobs. Insurance is also a #1 priority to consider, as damage can happen in the process of painting. I created The Idaho Painter as an alternative to big box DIY video shows that have actors who only act like they can paint but really can barely act. My mission is to teach everyone across the globe how to paint from the non-experienced to the long time professional. No experience is necessary. My channel is for the home improvement person, DIY painter, handyman professional, home and garden enthusiast, and even the professional painter.
Specialty painting, like murals and trompe l’oeil, costs $40 to $50 an hour. Paint might range between $75 to $90. The professional’s skill and experience are also determining factors. While a freelance artist might charge $25 to $30 an hour, a very skilled professional might charge $80 or more. Some might also charge $60 or more for a consultation.
Expect paint supply costs to run between 15 percent and 25 percent of the total job. If you're using premium paint, expect to spend between $50 and $100 per gallon. Included in the estimate is the number of gallons that are needed as well as the number of coats that will be applied. Other supplies could include brushes, scaffolding and even power washers, depending on the scope of the paint job. This should be an itemized list that's easy to understand, with every dollar accounted for.
This is great guys! Great work! I'm a retired kitchen guy so I know good work when I see it. I love all of it. My wife and I are doing a Farm kitchen right now as well. Your pictures have me thinking about sending in some before and after of ours. Just like you its the time we get to spend together during the project that makes the whole thing worth while. Great work. I cant say it enough! Lafayette House Painters

PSA: Color psychology is a thing. The right soothing hue can work wonders for your mind and soul. You might think that only works for pale blues, but the contrast of a light and dark color — or, in this case, off-white walls with chocolate brown and deep blue accents — has a powerful effect. "The darker color grounds the room, and then the lighter runs right up to the ceiling and makes it feel higher. It creates this serene atmosphere," designer Laura Bohn told us.

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself. Lafayette Home Painting
Deciding which paint to use has gotten much easier now that acrylic latexes have pushed oil-based paints almost to extinction. The acrylics offer superior performance (they don't harden with age, the way oils do, so they move and breathe without blistering), they don't mildew as readily, and they emit fewer VOCs, so they comply with new air-quality regulations. They also work over both oil- and water-based primers. Lafayette House Painting
"They cut a hole in the side of the house to put this thing in. I am handy-ish, but i know when i don't know stuff, so i contacted 20/20. There were a few hiccups in communication. I was prepared to dislike this guy and his work. He came in. He was nice. He went straight to work. He took out an old window unit and replaced it. I didn't just stand there and watch him do the work, but i was listening, there were opportunities to do the easy thing. Apparently, the old AC was supported by nothing except the wall, trim, caulk, and Jesus. He didn't know he'd have to do that extra, but he came prepared with a circular saw and an impact driver, not stuff you'd usually need for this job. He framed it. I heard some spray foam at some point so he sealed it. Trimmed it. The part that sold me is he ran out and got some touch up paint and made it look just as it did before. TLDR- He did a complete job, stuck to his estimate eventhough there were problems. He didn't just fix the problem, but made it look just as it did before he started."
If less than half the old paint is left, however, it may be worth stripping it all off. Guertin gets rid of stubborn remnants using shrouded grinders (like the PaintShaver), infrared paint strippers (such as the Speedheater), or chemical strippers (like Multi-Strip), then smooths the wood with a course or two of sanding. When siding (or bank accounts) can't take the shock of a total strip job, Rich O'Neil, of Masterwork Painting in Bedford, Massachusetts, has successfully hidden rough, well-adhered paint under Peel Bond, a thick primer.
